Restore Your Smile
Bonding, Shaping, & Contouring in pearland
If misshapen teeth, severe stains, chips, or minor gaps are keeping you from a confident smile, dental bonding can improve the appearance of your teeth and give you a proud grin. This non-invasive cosmetic treatment can restore your smile in just a single appointment. Dr. Doan takes a judgment-free, communicative approach to cosmetic dentistry, and the team at Sea Lotus Dentistry would feel honored to be a part of your smile transformation.
Treat Chipped, Stained, And Misshapen Teeth
Dental bonding uses a special type of dental resin to restore the shape, size, and color of your teeth. The resin is applied directly to your tooth by Dr. Doan, and sculpted into the proper size. Then, she will harden the resin using a UV light and trim it into the proper shape, ensuring that it looks just like a natural tooth. This treatment can be used to treat most cosmetic flaws including minor chips, misshapen teeth, gaps in your smile, and serious tooth stains.
Common Issues Solved
By Dental Bonding
Dental bonding can be used to treat a wide variety of cosmetic dentistry issues. Bonding can be used to treat stained teeth that do not respond to teeth whitening. The resin can simply be applied to cover up the stained enamel, brightening your smile.
Bonding is also commonly used to reshape gapped or small teeth. By adding more material to each tooth, Dr. Doan can close gaps and improve the shape of your smile.
In addition, bonding is often used to repair chipped teeth, as long as the underlying enamel is intact and has not been cracked or damaged. Bonding can reshape your teeth and create a more even smile, along with enameloplasty (shaping & contouring).
Even if you have multiple cosmetic issues with your smile, dental bonding from Dr. Doan at Sea Lotus Dentistry may be a great option for you. To find out if bonding is right for you and explore other treatments like veneers, teeth whitening, and cosmetic crowns, just schedule an appointment at our office today.
How Long Will
My Bonded Teeth Last?
Dental bonding is strong and durable and can last 7-10 years or more. Eventually, it is likely that the resin used to restore your tooth will crack or become dislodged. When this happens, you’ll need to have the tooth bonded again. This process will be identical to the original bonding procedure.
Though bonded teeth will not last quite as long as other treatments like veneers or cosmetic crowns, they are very affordable. And because the process is reversible, you’ll be able to keep your cosmetic dentistry options open in the future.
How Should I Care
For My Bonded Teeth?
The most important thing you can do for your bonded teeth is to maintain proper oral hygiene. It is important to brush your teeth at least twice a day for two minutes and floss once per day. Continue to see Dr. Sophie Doan for a comprehensive oral exam and teeth cleaning every six months to make sure your teeth are healthy.
It’s also important to take steps to avoid accidentally cracking or dislodging a bonded tooth. Dental resin is not quite as strong as your natural enamel. This means you should avoid doing things like biting and chewing hard foods (almonds, ice, etc.) with your bonded teeth.
Avoid chewing non-food objects like pencils, pens, or fingernails with your bonded teeth. Doing so regularly will weaken them and could cause them to crack or become dislodged prematurely.
It’s a good idea to have a custom-fitted nightguard made if you grind your teeth at night. Teeth grinding (bruxism) can damage both your natural teeth and your bonded teeth if it’s left untreated. And, if you play contact sports, we recommend that you have a custom-fitted sports mouthguard made to prevent oral injuries while playing.
Trim Your Teeth For A Better Smile
Shaping & Contouring
Shaping and contouring refer to the process of removing a small amount of enamel from your surrounding teeth to provide a more even, attractive smile. Shaping & contouring are often used alongside bonding to reshape your adjacent teeth and ensure that your smile looks completely natural. Only a very thin layer of enamel is removed, so the process is minimally-invasive, and causes no pain or discomfort.
